Ephemeral DevOps: Adventures in Managing Short-Lived Systems

This talk will explore the concepts and experiences of using configuration management in a highly disposable environment of ephemeral virtual machines. It will cover why an operations team may desire such an environment, the tools the presenter used to build one, and most importantly, the sorts of failures, accomplishments and considerations encountered during the journey.

Speaker: Todd Carr

Todd Carr is a DevOps Engineer at Unity Technologies. He has built highly automated systems across multiple platforms for over a decade. He has authored open source projects including the game Arganium, the Salt automation tool Grinder and various Puppet systems automation modules published on Puppet Forge. When not working on blue team security tools and automation, he enjoys motorcycles, games and building absurd projects on Raspberry Pi’s.
