Trends are for the herds
The current decade that will meld into history in the next 24 - 36 hours depending on where you are on the planet at the time I'm writing this will not present a great advertisement for democracy. This is despite the fact that every aspect of life is being led in the direction of democracy by technology. And there is no way but for democracy to succeed because despite all the follies of humankind, the eye on the money doesn't ever blink. And there is too much money being invested and there will be too much on the table to ignore the phenomenon of democracy in modern society and life that is driven by technology. Democracy was never meant for herds. It was designed for thinking people who found freedom in their expression; not bondage.
The forthcoming decade should be the one that finds expression to release the bondages of the past and ushers in a future that creates a better life on this planet.
Every individual in every society on this planet needs to see this interconnection of the seven stations of life in order to create a better life on this planet for the future generations.
The Idea of Technology
From enabling to making life happen, the idea of technology must transform to accommodate its pervading atomicity and neural nature. If the current decade was dominated by the abstraction of Google Search, the next one must become federated to one's own neural networks where the abstraction to detailing the meaning of data is owned and perpetuated; at the most granular level of the atomic of data. Keeping the link between the seven stations of life as illustrated above.
Voice over Noise
Voices must rise above the noise, not distorting but rather disrupting the dystopian social conversations that currently engage a majority. We must learn to engage with trust and back ourselves with an experience that is uniquely ours; not a manipulation of vested interests. We must be able to build 'systems over objects' and collaboration replacing conceit. Innovation is the only way to create a future; one where the Invention to Innovation cycle needs to be configured to a new context before the Innovation to Improvisation cycle is added. Transformation and not incremental change is the driver of this current pivot to a more productive future and it has already been operative. It is time to catalyze and/or accelerate with the right design.
